Joy Castro-Wehr is excited to be moving back to Washington, D.C. to join the Westmoreland community after a year in Baltimore, M.D. working as a chaplain resident in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Johns Hopkins.
At Hopkins, she worked on both the pediatric and adult floors of the hospital as a spiritual care provider for patients, families and staff. While in Baltimore, she participated in the life of her local UCC community and had the opportunity to lead worship services during her residency year.
Joy is a Member in Discernment in the UCC. Prior to chaplain residency, Joy attended Harvard Divinity School and graduated with her Master of Divinity in 2025, where had a ton of fun reading theology for her homework and making lifelong friends.
Though she loved her divinity school life and community, Joy had found it difficult to leave the wonderful city and people of D.C. where she lived and worked prior; so, she is delighted to be returning to a familiar place.
Outside of work, you can find Joy running long distances, crafting, singing, or learning to play yet another new instrument (poorly but enthusiastically). You will likely spot her biking around town, for fun or while commuting, listening to her current favorite podcast.
