Join us Saturday, May 2nd at 7:30pm at Westmoreland UCC in Bethesda for this free concert featuring soloists from the Washington National Opera Chorus and a program of drinking songs, to benefit the AGMA relief fund.

Music at Westmoreland seeks to create beauty, serve justice, and build community in all its programming. For the final concert of this season we’ve collected some of our favorite drinking songs from the opera canon to weave into a tavern scene, an evergreen expression of the ways communities have celebrated, mourned, connected, and coped together. We’re excited to featured solo work from members of the Washington National Opera Chorus as we hold in mind all the DC musicians affected by recent political drama around the Kennedy Center, and raise donations for the relief fund of the American Guild of Musical Artists, which supports those musicians.

This concert is free to all! Join us in the beautiful acoustic of the Westmoreland Sanctuary for the tavern scene, then migrate down to the warm social hall, transformed into a giant living room, for a casual second round of solos with beer, wine, snacks and sweets! This wonderful embodiment of what we will have just sung about is made possible by the Westmoreland Arts Committee.
