Rev. Dr. Robert Maddox, Jr. - Acting Senior Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Bob Maddox came to Westmoreland in the summer of 2006, along with 54 other members of the neighboring Briggs Memorial Baptist Church, at that time, as our “Minister of Discipleship,” focusing on Adult Education, stewardship and community outreach. He is a graduate of Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Emory University's Candler School of Theology, where he earned the Doctor of Sacred Theology. Bob has served as minister at churches in Texas and Georgia. In 1979 he came to Washington as speech writer and religious liaison for President Jimmy Carter and later served as Executive Director for Americans United for Separation of Church and State. For fourteen years he was pastor of Briggs until our growing partnership resulted in our new united community. He is also Executive Director of the Briggs Center for Faith and Action, a non-profit religious ministry organization. Bob, as Acting Senior Pastor, and Dr. Sid Fowler, Interim Senior Minister, are currently guiding the church through a time of transition as the congregation seeks a new Senior Minister. Bob has written five books, nine Bible studies for adults and numerous articles on a wide range of subjects. With his wife Linda, he co-authored two additional books for teenagers. Bob and Linda have been married for 51 years and have three children and five grandchildren.
