"Civility on the Circle,” the inspiration of some Pyle Middle and Whitman High School students, is a way to mark the inauguration in light of the discord of recent months, including incidents in our own neighborhood and schools. The aim is to do something constructive that sends a positive message about what is important, and that should speak to everyone. The community is invited to a gathering on Westmoreland Circle (where Massachusetts Avenue meets Western Avenue) to celebrate "Civility on the Circle,” by standing and holding signs representing shared core values such as respect, truth, inclusion and kindness.
The Westmoreland Congregational Church on the circle has generously offered its social hall as a place to gather to make signs and to share some hot drinks and snacks (the event itself is non-denominational and non-partisan). People are welcome to come any time during the day, with a focal point being the noon-1pm hour.
Please do come join us, bring a sign or sign-makings, a message you want to add to the Civility on the Circle gathering and we can stand together to affirm values we share.
