Ecumenical Accompaniment Speaker

Middle East Committee Meeting

Daniel Romero, a seminarian at Chicago Theological Seminary, has recently returned from serving with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). He will describe his experiences at the September 18 meeting of Westmoreland's MiddleEast Committee - via SKYPE from Chicago.

EAPPI, a World Council of Churches project and Global Ministries partner, "seeks to support local and international efforts to end the Israeli occupation and bring a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with a just peace, based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

Daniel Romero is a Member-In-Discernment and seminarian in Chicago who recently returned from a 3 month stay in the West Bank while working with the Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel and with Global Ministries. Daniel spent the majority of his time in Hebron but he traveled throughout the West Bank and Israel developing relationships, monitoring checkpoints and mosques, and providing protective presence to Palestinian school children, farmers, bedouins and shopkeepers. Prior to starting his ministry path, Daniel was a social worker and a community organizer.  Westmorelanders Jeff  Eagan and Nancy Van Meter spent some time with Daniel when they were in East Jerusalem recently.
