Advent Concert to Benefit the Rev. Clementa Pickney Scholarship Fund

Light in Deepest Night

An Advent Concert in remembrance of the victims of gun violence and in hope for a more peaceful world

Westmoreland Festival Chorus, Soloists and Orchestra. Mr. Alec Davis, conductor.

A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Rev. Pinckney Scholarship Fund.

From Columbine to the Navy Yard to the streets of Baltimore and to our own community,  a plague of gun violence snuffs out too many lives.

December 10-14 has been declared as National Gun Violence Prevention Sabbath Weekend by the Washington National Cathedral, the Newtown Foundation, and Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence.  The Light in Deepest Night concert is part of that observance.

Rev. Clementa Pinckney was the pastor of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. He and eight church members were shot and killed during a Bible study on June 17, 2015.  The Rev. Pinckney Scholarship Fund provide educational scholarships for members of the extended Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church community.
