Cantata for choir, orchestra and solo viola, inspired by the life and music of Ramzi Aburedwan. Music by Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez. Libretto by Timothy Tutt.
From Ramzi's website:
. . . Ramzi’s life trajectory has by no means been ordinary. This Palestinian artist was born in Betlhehem in 1979 and grew up in the Al’ Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, where his family was forced to relocate to, in 1948.
The first intifada (1987/1992), the violence and the occupation greatly marked his childhood and his adolescence. At 16 years old he participated in a music workshop, an experience that changed his life.
