Joseph's House
Joseph’s House is a private non-profit agency established in 1990 to provide relationship-centered and end-of-life care within a loving community to men and women who are homelss and suffering from end-stage AIDS or cancer. Normal capacity of the house is a total of 9 men and women. Volunteers work in a team with registered nurses, other staff and long-term community friends and volunteers.

Job Description: Compassionate Companion (Resident Care Aid)
Provide daily, compassion presence to residents for day-to-day nursing, social and comfort needs
Drive to and accompany residents on appointments and outings
Participate with other staff and volunteers in planning individual resident care
Assist in providing hospice care (under nurse supervision) with other staff and volunteers. This could include: bathing, feeding, re-positioning dying resident. Offering gentle massage, compassionate touch. Accompany quietly at the bedside, providing calm and loving presence.
Requirements:
Desire to bring one’s whole self to the service of those who are homeless and dying
Ability to work effectively and supportively with other volunteers and staff members; ability to receive and follow directions
High School Diploma
Ability to remain focused on the most vulnerable residents while also contributing to the well-being of the community as a whole.
