Virginia slaveholder, Henry Townsend, emphasizing his relationship with

Achabe
Achabe's first novel, published in 1958, is set in the late 1800s and
is about the life of a warrior and village hero at the time
missionaries arrive in his Ibo village. It tells about European
colonization of Africa from the view of the colonized people.

Chilean writer Isabel Allende's classic novel tells the story of three
generations of a family living through a century of violence and
turbulence in a Latin American country.

A Life in Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Missing
Agents of WWII by Sarah Helm
A biography of the secretive woman (who may have been the inspiration
for Miss Moneypenny of Ian Fleming’s James Bond series) who recruited
and trained agents who were sent to help the resistance in
France. The story includes Atkins’ efforts to discover the fate
of agents who were unaccounted for after the war.

A short novella that tells the story of a family in Egypt before and up
to the day that Anwar Sadat was assassinated.

The narrator in Frazier’s second novel is an orphan who is adopted by a
Cherokee elder. The narrator witnesses Andrew Jackson’s
presidency, the Cherokee removal, the Civil War, and post-war
developments in the U.S. Based on a true story.
