Christian Education - Youth Programs

On Sundays

Youth in grades 6-8 will be Acting on Faith through Service. The youth will live out there faith through serving the world around them as Jesus did. They will have the chance to be creative as they will be designing their own projects. Our service will include: Serving the Wide World, Serving Westmoreland, Serving our Community, and Serving the Earth.

Youth in grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend worship on Sundays. On the second Sunday of each month, they are invited to gather in the Youth Room for pizza and fellowship.

Curricula at Westmoreland

Our Whole Lives(OWL)

Used biannually in rotation with Neighboring Faiths, OWL is a comprehensive sexuality curriculum that provides accurate information for parents and youth alike. OWL helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, health and behavior in the context of their faith.

Neighboring Faiths

Used biannually in rotation with OWL, the Neighboring Faiths curriculum compares the major religions of the world, and also examines some less-understood faith traditions. The class takes field trips throughout the year to many different houses of worship in order to better appreciate other religious traditions.

Confirmation

Youth at Westmoreland generally attend Confirmation class during their ninth grade year (although exceptions are made when necessary).  Confirmation is taught by two lay leaders with the assistance of Rev. Bob Maddox as needed.  The program includes bi-monthly meetings and a spring retreat.

Youth Group

Westmoreland has two group offerings for its youth! Middle School (6-8 grade) and High School (9-12 grade) groups meet for a wide variety of social gatherings, retreats, service projects, sporting events and more! Please see the calendar for further information.
