Music and
Arts in Worship
Music and the arts are involved in worship, Christian
education, pastoral care, and outreach. Participating in the
learning and singing of hymns and responses is an important part of the
worship experience for the entire congregation. Each Sunday the
musical portion of the worship service enhances the spoken text based
on the scripture of the day. The choirs present an anthem that
allows for further meditation.
The music of worship is a continuation of Christian
education through the sung sacred poetry. Each group that
rehearses for worship is learning new ways to express faith. Arts
enhance the worship service in other ways: through banners, dramatic
presentation, and special music Sundays.
