The Arts at WestmorelandThe Westmoreland Arts Committee arranges special art shows, craft events, or other special activities at Westmoreland Church. Its mission statement is:Talent is God's gift to us. What we do with it is our gift to God. Talentand native ability are given. They are a creative potential to be used with responsibility. To recognize, encourage and honor creativity is a worthy task. The arts - musical, visual, literary, dramatic, poetic, rhythmic - engage the senses. They heighten our awareness of a wider world where we become more open to discern, accept and appreciate the aesthetic. Art provides an atmosphere for living; a framework for serving and understanding; a structure for balance and centering. It opens us to discover what we ourselves and others have to give. The arts encourage us to reach out and build community. They enhance communication and sharing with others as we concentrate on the discipline and hard work of preparation, and participate in the enriching cycle of giving and receiving.
