Alec Davis, Music Director & Organist
Alec Davis is an active musician in both the Sacred and secular music worlds as an instrumentalist, vocalist, conductor, composer, and teacher. He has contributed to many Sacred Music programs in the Washington DC and Baltimore Regions, including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Cantor/Chorister and Assistant to the Director of Liturgy), St. Francis of Assisi in Gaithersburg (Principle Organist), and most recently at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel outside Baltimore (Director of Music and Organist).
He has competed and performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist with orchestras and chamber ensembles including the Symphony Orchestra at the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, the Montgomery Symphony, Washington DC’s Great Noise Ensemble, and the Trinity Chamber Orchestra. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to perform at such venues as the John F. Kennedy Center, The National Gallery of Art, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and New York City’s Museum of Natural History, along with many of the great Churches of Washington, DC. He has had the opportunity to collaborate under the direction of such conductors as Armando Bayolo, David Searle, Leo Nestor, and Leonard Slatkin.
Alec owns and operates Davis Music Studios, based in Cockeysville, MD where he teaches 30 private students of piano, music theory, and choral singing. In addition to teaching, he is an active accompanist and chamber musician, frequently collaborating with singers and instrumentalists for recitals, rehearsals, recordings, and competitions. He is also the Rehearsal Pianist and Performance Pianist and Organist for the Thomas Circle Singers in NW Washington, DC. Alec is an active composer of both Sacred and secular music, a music copyist specializing in transcription and engravement, and also the Audio Producer for Folíe a Two, a local video production project dedicated to helping non-profits increase their visibility, co-founded with his husband Ed.
Alec received his Bachelors of Music Degree in Piano Performance, with a minor in Music Composition, from the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music in Washington, DC.
